THE RESULTS
- Effective in over 75% of patients treated
- Most patients report dramatic reduction in pain within 5 treatments or less
The dramatic decrease of pressure in the disc (decompression) can foster the drawing in of a bulge and help take pressure of a “pinched” nerve.
Basically: Unloading of the spine and disc with great results.
WHAT TYPES OF PATIENT CAN BENEFIT?
Any SPINAL pain/numbness radiating down the extremity, lower back pain, nerve/disc involvement.
- DTS provides a pumping action promoting nutrition benefits to the discs
- Often lost in damage and degenerative disc conditions
- Re-supplying the disc with nutrients and blood that help the disc heal
What Types of Problems Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Help?
- Herniated discs
- Degenerative disc/joint disease
- Spinal stenosis
- Sciatica
- Facet syndrome
- Radiculopathy (pain into legs)
Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab is excited to offer you new technology with the recent addition of the Decompression Traction System (DTS®).
What is Spinal Decompression Therapy & How Does It Work?
The DTS® is a comfortable, specifically designed table with a computer controlled traction device that can be programmed to effectively decompress structures in the spine that have been proven to be a major source of pain. This decompression traction therapy unloads, or decompresses, the intervertebral discs and facet joints within the spinal column with a gentle stretching and relaxing motion. This painless cycling motion causes a vacuuming effect within the disc, which can draw in disc material relieving pressure on nerves and replenishing much needed nutrients, fluids and oxygen to the injured disc. In addition pain relief is also created neurologically from stretching of receptors in soft tissues and from the distraction of the joints.
Successful Results- Safe & Effective
Spinal Decompression is FDA Approved for treatment of the low back and neck.
Many clinical studies have shown decompression therapy to be 75% to 86% successful in relieving pain and symptoms. Other studies show pain was not only improved but that it lasted, suggesting potential for long-term relief. Most patients notice an improvement within 5 to 6 visits with close to full relief in about 8 to 12 sessions.
As always patients at Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab receive a thorough and individualized initial evaluation to determine the best course of care. Therefore, these sessions also include customized treatments tailored to address specific patient needs such as flexibility and stabilization exercises and posture and body mechanics education to help maintain disc correction, prevent future injury and promote overall spinal health.
